HALDON TERRACE
This was an exclusive address. It had a permanent
gardener and held croquet tournaments and afternoon teas on the lawn.
The gates barred all non-residents but the gardens were visible from the
Cottage Hospital. Several of the Hospital donors lived here and provided
“recommends” for poorer inhabitants of Dawlish. In 1970, a health centre
was built at the bottom of the communal garden. It is now a vet’s
practice.
